Israel Air Force has signed the contract for 30 new Italian-made Aermacchi M-346 Master Advanced Jet Trainer, rather than Korean T-50, to replace its aging fleet of A-4 Skyhawks Jet Trainers in a hotly contested $1 billion contract includes aircraft, engines, maintenance, logistics, simulators and training. Compatibility with the Lockheed Martin F-35 has helped the M-346 beat the South Korean deal. Delivery of M-346 starts in middle 2014.
