Italian Air Force Academy - ITAFA Helicopter Training

Each year about 100 potential pilot trainees arrive at the Italian Air Force Academy (ITAFA), Accademia Aeronautica Militare Italiana, is located in Pozzuoli, Naples.

They are then graded or screened at 70º Stormo Giulio Cesare Graziani (70th Basic Training Wing) in Latina. At 207º Gruppo (ITAF 207th Squadron) which operates the SF.260EA (T-260EA). They would have clock around 20 of flying hours in the SIAI SF.260.

35 trainees will be selected a year to complete their helicopter type-rating at the 72º Stormo 72nd Wing at Frosinone (a small town located between Rome and Naples). The 72nd Stormo is equipped with NH-500Es, a platform that can best be described as versatile: it is small, fast, maneuverable and is an easy to maintain aircraft that can also carry light armament.
