F-35 Lightning II (X-35A JSF)

The F-35 Lightning II (X-35A JSF) aircraft is build by Lockheed-Martin.

The fully computerized aircraft has 24 million lines of software code for the plane and its support systems.

The cost to build each F-35 has risen to an average of $137 million from the initial estimates of $69 million in 2001 when Lockheed beat Boeing for the F-35 contract. With all the delays the full production of F-35 is not expected to start until 2019.
