CapitaMall Trust’s (CMT) made a $710 million acquisition of Plaza Singapura added to it investment portfolio of Tampines Mall, Junction 8, Funan The IT Mall and IMM. CMT is the first listed real estate investment trust (REIT) in Singapore. Launched in 2002, this vehicle invests in quality income-producing retail properties in Singapore.


CMT income is mainly derived from rental payments received from a diverse range of local and international tenants. With a portfolio made up of four major shopping centres in both the city and the suburban areas, CMT has performed well and exceeded initial forecasts. CMT decanted relatively under-performing office space in Junction 8 and converted the released floor area into higher-yielding retail space.
