Sarikei  is famous for its delicious pineapples and pepper.  Sarikei is a bustling river town crammed with old Chinese shop houses and is the administrative center for an area of 4,332.35 square kilometers.  Sarikai is strategically situated on the Pan Borneo Highway and the Lower Rejang, it is the transit point for buses and express boats heading east or west throughout Sarawak. Anybody traveling by road or express boat from Kuching to Sibu will pass through Sarikei.
