Mukah was launched on the 1 March 2002 as the tenth administrative division in the state, the Dalat/ Mukah area is a fast developing one.  With a multi-cultural population of approximately 68,083 the area comes under the authority of the Dalat and Mukah District Council. The council implements the various administrative function and monitors development in and around the towns of Mukah, Oya/ Dalat, Balingian and Selangau/ Stapang.
