The town is located in part of an area which has been proposed as a major regional centre under Singapore's concept plan. It will in future develop into a focal point of activity which presently is concentrated at the town centre.  The Science Park is in the locality as well as the various gardens and golf course. The centre hub of activity lies in the town centre where the Regional Library and Bus Interchange are located.  The internation business park and a golf course are located near the Jurong East MRT Station.
