The autumn of 1959 saw the birth of 'Happy Chan' when a proposal to make mascot dolls as Christmas sale decoration was made. The red and green fairy dolls wearing hooded cloaks sprang into popularity overnight.  In March 1960, a mascot doll named 'Lucky Chan' was created to celebrate the birth of Prince Hironomiya. In December 1960, winged Kokeshi-dolls Christmas decoration and in 1961, Apache- style dolls modelled on Scandinavian wooden dolls were made.  It is the choir-doll of 1962 that first possessed the characteristics of the 'Rose-chan 'doll. Subsequently, the shape of the mascot doll was formed and the design policy established in June 1963.

In the Christmas of 1994, Takashimaya Singapore presented the 'Rose-chan ' to Singapore for the first time. 3,000 of these 'Valentine Rose' were issued on a limited edition basis. 1995 'Rose-chan' doll dressed in Sarong Kebaya was issued as part of Takashimaya 3 rd Christmas celebrations in Singapore. And the 1996 Rose-chan doll wearing an Indian Sari was issued to great success. 1997 'Rose-chan' doll wearing a Chinese cheongsam, and 1998 'Rose-chan' doll wearing the Peranakan Sarong Kebaya have been well received.   In 1999, we presented the 6th limited edition Rose-chan doll in Yukata, for Takashimaya Singapore's 7th Christmas celebrations.

Takashimaya Fitness Club is one of the many lifestyle services provided by Takashimaya, the first to introduce a totally new lifestyle shopping concept to Singapore's retail scene.
