The Kallang Theatre, touted as the largest commercial cinema in Singapore when it first opened in the early 1970’s, was later converted to a theatre for the performing arts in 1986. It is the Council’s largest theatre, and houses a well-furnished auditorium with a 1744 seating capacity. Other facilities include four in-house music studios, a dance studio and an orchestra room. Today, its extensive facilities have made it an ideal venue for dance presentations, operas, musicals, meetings and other ceremonial events.
