Singapore 67 - Bukit Panjang

Bukit Panjang gets its name from the range of low hills which begins from Mandai and ends in Bukit Timah to the south. It means a "long spread of hill" in Malay. The Bukit Panjang area used to comprise rural settlements which grew up along Bukit Timah Road in the early 1900s. There were agricultural areas, such as the Cold Storage Dairy Farm and industrial uses such as the Nanyang Shoe Factory, Lam Soon Canning and Rubber Factory as well as granite quarries.

Bukit Panjang Town is bounded by Bukit Timah Expressway, Kranji Expressway, Woodlands Road, Upper Bukit Timah Road, Cashew Road and Petir Road. It is sited on the opposite side of Choa Chu Kang Town across Woodlands Road and is accessible through the Bukit Panjang LRT from Choa Chu Kang MRT Station. The LRT goes through a loop with seven convenient stops covering the major part of the town.  Bukit Panjang Town was formerly known as Zhenghua Town.
