Singapore Changi Airport as we know it today is a prestigious airport with numerous accolades under its belt. Civil aviation in Singapore from its humble beginning in 1911 to the present day award winning Changi Airport. The old Paya Lebar Airport was officially opened on 20 August 1955. The current Singapore Changi Airport opened for operation on 1 July 1981 and was officially opened on 29 December 1981. Terminal 2 was completed and opened for operations on 22 November 1990.
