Singapore was the third largest luxury watches & clocks (WC) market in Asia in terms of Swiss watch imports in 2003. Consumer reports estimate about $3 billion worth of watches are sold in Singapore each year. In 2002, tourists spent $172 million on watches, ranking watches seventh in terms of tourist expenditure on shopping. That’s 6 per cent of the total $2.86 billion spent by tourists on shopping in 2002. Singapore offers an excellent watch buying experience and after-sales service, competitive prices and a diverse range of the best international brands, including rare and limited edition items. The watch retail industry by focusing on enhancing the range of top international brands and limited collections that are not easily available in other countries so as to attract more regional watch buyers to Singapore. It also supports industry-led watch events including Hour Glass’ Tempus, Sincere’s Celebration of Time, Cortina’s Jewellery Time, Bezel’s Singapore International Watch Auction and Jaeger LeCoultre’s The Manufacturer Comes to You exhibition.
